A THEATRE is seeking a young actress to play a Goth in a forthcoming comedy.
Waiting For Gateaux, about a slimming club, has already sold more than 1,700 tickets for its premiere at the 400-seat Customs House, in South Shields, South Tyneside, in April.
Theatre director Ray Spencer said: "The character is called Raven and she's a late-teen Goth. We are looking for an actress who can carry the role.
"She does not have to be a full-time Goth and, while this is a substantial part and will be a challenge, previous acting experience is not essential."
Waiting For Gateaux, which will run from April 6 to 10, was written by local men Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, whose previous shows Good To Firm, Dirty Dusting and Raising The Stakes have played to capacity audiences at the theatre.
Mr Spencer said: "Waiting For Gateaux is the fastest selling play at the Customs House and will attract capacity audiences."
Auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 19, from 6pm to 7pm, and hopefuls should prepare a monologue to read.
For details, call Emily Taylor at the theatre, from Wednesday, on 0191-427 8180.
