JOEY Hutchinson is hoping to be fit before the end of the season as the Darlington defender prepares to consider his options in the summer.
The highly-rated Teessider is out of contract at the end of the season when his two-year deal at the Williamson Motors Stadium expires.
Hutchinson is expected to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a knee ligament injury at Rochdale in September.
However, the former Birmingham City stopper, who has been a revelation since joining Quakers on a free transfer at the beginning of last season, is keen to play some part in the current campaign.
Manager David Hodgson revealed Hutchinson has family issues to take into account, with his wife and daughter living in Birmingham.
"Joey is out of contract at the end of the season and wants to play before then. He would be putting himself in the shop window," said Hodgson.
"There has been no suggestion that Joey wants to leave, but there are issues he has to consider, like his family, who are based in Birmingham.
"If it's a case that he feels he needs to be back down there then that's something we'll need to address in the summer. We'll leave the door open for someone to come in and take him."
Hodgson revealed Hutchinson was making good progress on the treatment table and that his recovery was ahead of schedule.
"There was a two-month period, which Joey needed to get through and he's gone past that now," said Hodgson.
"He's at a point where he can really push on, which is fantastic."
Meanwhile defender Alan Harrison is to see a specialist after suffering a setback on his road to recovery. The former Boro youngster broke his leg during a trial game for Quakers during the summer.
