CAMPAIGNERS against changes to Darlington's High Row are asking new questions of councillors.
The town's Civic Trust, which has collected nearly 4,000 signatures on a petition opposing the work, wants answers about certain matters to be published in the borough council's Town Crier magazine.
The organisation is protesting against alterations to High Row, which form part of a £6.5m scheme to pedestrianise the town centre.
It wants to see the steps, terraces, balustrades and railings retained and members have insisted that the public was never made aware of the full details of the "pedestrian heart" scheme.
In a letter to councillors, the group has listed the most frequently asked questions and given its opinion on them.
They include asking why it is not possible to keep the existing features of High Row in the scheme.
The letter says: "We challenge the council to use the next edition of Town Crier to print these questions and the answers."
Trust secretary Clive Owen said: "If they don't rise to this challenge it will reflect on them. By not using the magazine, they are showing themselves to be non-communicative."
The council has insisted it has public support for the scheme, as well as the backing of the business community.
