ANYONE who saw a motor scooter being ridden shortly before it was involved in a collision is being asked to help police accident investigators.
Officers are also keen to trace a driver who went to the aid of the 17-year-old scooter rider, who suffered serious injuries in the collision. in the Philadelphia area of Shiney Row, near Houghton-le-Spring, Wearside, on Friday, December 18.
The accident, involving a Renault Clio car and Gilera scooter, took place at the junction of Bradwell Way and Success Road, shortly before 6pm.
The rider was travelling from the Newbottle area, along the A182 Philadelphia Lane and into Success Road.
Police said the motorist who helped the rider had been driving a silver car, possibly an estate-type vehicle, and may prove a vital witness.
