WHEN a woman spotted her boyfriend slipping into the home of a neighbour - and one of her best friends - she was quick to extract her revenge on him and his car, a court heard yesterday.
Magistrates at Harrogate were told how Sarah Phillips approached Jamie Dawson in a Knaresborough pub, "gave him a piece of her mind'' and then slapped his face.
Three weeks later, Phillips, 21, had used her house keys to scratch a large letter W on the boot of his BMW car and other scratch marks along its side as it was parked outside a house in Cresthomle Close, Knaresborough.
When Phillips, of nearby Littondale Avenue, pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage, Peter Scott, prosecuting, said the damage had cost £1,863.81 to put right.
In mitigation, Helen Cam-idge said Phillips, a care assistant, had lost her good character because of her actions and her pride had been replaced by humiliation.
She had had a two-month relationship with Mr Dawson and had been confident the pair had a future together.
But then she had discovered he was seeing one of her best friends and felt let-down and belittled.
In her distress over what she felt was appalling treatment - and feeling she was being mocked and laughed at - she gave him a piece of her mind, following it up with s slap to the face.
Later, feeling history was repeating itself, she lost her temper and attacked Mr Dawson's car.
Phillip, who was given a six-month conditional discharge, was told to pay £750 compensation and costs of £85.
