HE'S only ten months old but already Jacob the English springer spaniel is a veteran at the dog show game.
Despite his young age, he has enjoyed success already - but is about to face his biggest challenge yet.
From 10,000 dogs that entered the Pro Plan Pup of the Year competition to be held in London this month, he is down to the last 31
Jacob - whose full name is Calvdale Call Off The Search - is owned by Andrew Chandler of Northallerton and was bred by Nicola Calvert, of nearby Brompton, who has been successfully exhibiting springers for the past 25 years.
Many of the past winners from Pro Plan Pup of the Year have gone on to further success including winning Best in Show at Crufts - and Jacob is tipped to be a very strong contender.
Mrs Calvert said: "He's a splendid dog and has a lot of potential. He's already qualified for Crufts next year, along with his father and his aunt."
Pro Plan spokesman Claire Parry-Baggott said: "This year looks set to be the closest yet as we have some fantastic pups in the running."
