EMERGENCY crews got an ambulance for Christmas this year.
The £100,000 vehicle, based in Thirsk, is one of 12 vehicles due to be distributed in the area covered by Tees, East and North Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
And after trying out the Mercedes vehicle, Thirsk-based emergency medical technician Ray Banthorpe said: "It's beautiful to drive and provides a lovely smooth ride. A lot of thought has gone into the design of the interior. There's loads of storage space for all our kit, and it's quiet in the back, so our patients will appreciate it too. It's a big improvement all round."
The vehicle is powered by a 2.9 turbo-diesel engine and also features satellite-navigation equipment.
