WORK has finished on a £1.2m doctor's surgery that will serve thousands of patients.
Elvington Medical Practice at Elvington, near York, has moved into a two-storey building with six consulting rooms, a dispensary and two treatment rooms where minor surgery can be performed.
The practice serves 6,500 patients and is launching a broader range of health services, including a patient participation group and health promotion initiatives.
Its previous surgery, where it had been based for almost 20 years, was cramped and often had to contend with flooding.
Senior partner Dr Urszula Dudek said: "The new surgery has met all our expectations. It has been wonderful to see all our designs and ideas come to life.
"The reception, dispensary and waiting areas in particular, are light, airy and welcoming to patients and the upstairs management and administrative suite will give the staff space to work effectively and efficiently in comfortable surroundings."
