A VISIT to a Roman fort inspired youngsters from an east Cleveland school to create an exhibition.
The display, called Romans Revisited, was created by students at Saltburn's Huntcliff School and opens at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, on Monday.
The year seven group, with help from the school's art and history departments, will unveil a series of display boards showing Hadrian's Wall with their work mounted into it.
The boards also give a general history of the Roman Empire, including the legend of Romulus and Remus, the death of Julius Caesar, Roman battles, the destruction of Pompeii, chariot racing and gladiator fights.
On Thursday, January 20, Jefficus, a re-enactment Roman soldier, will give a talk at the museum and visitors will be able to create a Roman scene, between 3pm and 6pm, in an event with Tees Archaeology.
History teacher Hannah Mohon said: "We are delighted with the students' work and thrilled it can now go on show to a wider audience.
"It all started with a visit to the Arbeia Roman fort and there is no doubt the experience provided a challenge for the students to develop their interest in such an exciting period of history."
The exhibition will run until January 31.
