AN order to evict travellers from a temporary site is being sought from the courts.
Officers at Stockton Borough Council will make a second attempt in court to receive an eviction order to move on caravans in Thornaby, near Stockton.
An earlier request for an eviction order was rejected after the courts ruled that correct procedures had not been carried out.
Now the council has confirmed it will try again later this week.
Residents and councillors in the area have complained that the site on Allensway, in Thornaby, has led to an increase in noise, litter and crime.
The travellers moved in on Christmas Eve. This is the fourth site gypsies have used in the area in the past few years.
Dari Taylor, MP for Stockton South, has previously brought up the problem of illegal gypsy sites in the House of Commons.
