A MAN who has been disqualified from driving three times in the past two years was jailed yesterday.
David William Wyatt, 21, of Walker Drive, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, pleaded guilty to two sets of identical charges of driving while disqualified and without insurance and resisting a police officer.
Magistrates sitting in Newton Aycliffe were told that Wyatt twice gave false details to the police when he was stopped in Bishop Auckland on December 28 and in Darlington on Tuesday.
David Wilkinson, prosecuting, said Wyatt had a number of similar convictions. He was disqualified from driving for three years in May 2003, for two years in April and a further 18 months in September, both last year, to run concurrently.
Robert Willoughby, in mitigation, said his client had been travelling home from hospital when he was stopped last month. He had been going to a bank when he was arrested this week.
For the December offences Wyatt was sentenced to five months in prison for driving while disqualified and one month for resisting a police officer, to run consecutively.
He was sentenced to the same time behind bars for this month's offences, to run concurrently. No separate sentence was given for having no insurance.
He was also disqualified for three years and ordered to resit his driving test before getting behind a wheel again.
