FIVE girls are celebrating after clinching a scholarship at a North-East independent school.
The pupils were awarded the Simon Bailes Scholarship to Polam Hall School, in Darlington.
The scholarship, backed by the Peugeot dealership, was launched several years ago to extend entry to the school.
The award is promoted in local schools each year and shortlisted candidates took part in an assessment day to win their places.
The successful scholars - Claire Wytcherley, Gemma Lyne, Kate Sayer, Suzanna Millar and Lara Tysseling - are looking forward to the start of the new term.
Headteacher Marie Green said: "The Simon Bailes Scholarship has become a major asset to the school and has had many applicants over its five-year duration.
"All the girls have benefited immensely from Simon's involvement and have flourishing futures ahead of them."
