A headteacher has been appointed at a secondary school that was recently rebuilt at a cost of £10m.
Andrew Bayston, 48, started work this week at St Hild's CofE School, in Hartlepool. He replaces Carolyn Roberts, who has moved to Durham Johnston School.
Hull-born Mr Bayston joins St Hild's from Unity City Academy, Middlesbrough, where he has worked for the past two-and-a-half years.
He was previously assistant headteacher at Northallerton College, where he spent 15 years. His first teaching post was in 1979 at Stokesley School, North Yorkshire.
The married father of two daughters, aged 19 and 21, said: "I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to lead St Hild's and I will be looking to build on the solid platform created by Carolyn Roberts, governors, staff and students.
"It is very evident that there is a positive attitude throughout the whole school and the local community."
