NOMINATIONS are being sought for candidates to stand for election in a district council ward.
The vacancy in the Pelton Fell ward was created by the retirement of Chester-le-Street Labour district councillor Isabel Howey.
Nomination papers can be obtained from the returning officer at the Civic Centre in Newcastle Road, Chester-le-Street.
The returning officer will then, at the request of any elector in the ward, prepare a nomination paper for signature.
Nominations will close at noon on January 14. If the seat is contested, a poll will take place on Thursday, February 10.
