A RAMBLE along a newly-designated walkway in the former Durham Coalfield will help to shake off the New Year cobwebs on Sunday.
The guided walk is a circuitous route covering eight miles along the Coalfield Way.
Walkers are asked to meet at the Hetton Centre, in Hetton-le-Hole, near Houghton-le-Spring, at 10am.
Countryside rangers will then lead walkers on a route taking in Joe's Pond, on Durham Wildlife Trust's Rainton Meadows reserve, and East Rainton, with a stop for lunch.
The event is free and no booking is necessary. Walkers are advised to take their own lunch.
