FOLLOWING Adam Boyd's signing of a new contract, Neale Cooper is ready to turn his attentions to tying down the rest of his squad.

Hartlepool United, fifth in League One, have been involved in one promotion and four play-off seasons in the last five years, and look set for another.

Cooper, whose side entertain Boston in the FA Cup tomorrow, is keen to see his players rewarded for their efforts with new deals.

A string of key players are out of contract this summer. The likes of Ritchie Humphreys, Mark Tinkler and Chris Westwood are in the final months of deals they signed in 2003 under Mike Newell.

Boyd recently put pen to paper on a two-year extension to his contract and nine-goal midfielder Antony Sweeney is among those due for talks.

Cooper admitted: "He'd definitely one we want to keep and he deserves a new contract.

"Other lads who have done well deserve new contracts. They work hard for this club and they work hard for me and Martin and they get rewarded.

"I've got a budget meeting coming up shortly and then we will look at all the contracts that are up this summer.''

Skipper Micky Barron and midfielder Darrell Clarke are Cooper's only injury concerns, but both are on the road to recovery after operations. Ben Clark returned to action in Monday's 5-0 thumping of MK Dons after missing four games and Cooper said: "We've got competition for places in the squad now and that's something we didn't have earlier in the season.

"Look at the bench the other day, we had Ben Clark and Gavin Strachan available there and we've Darrell Clarke working hard to come back to fitness as well."
