A man appeared in court this morning charged with the murder of a disabled pensioner.
The body of Jack Carter, 62, was found by his son in a downstairs shower room at his home in Sandmoor Road, New Marske, East Cleveland. He had suffered severe head injuries.
Keith Jones, 33, whose address in court was given as Sandmoor Road, appeared at Guisborough Magistrates yesterday, handcuffed to security guards.
As he stood in the dock with the hood of a grey jumper pulled over his head, the charge of murder was read out to him.
He acknowledged the charge and was lead away into custody.
Police were called on Wednesday morning after a carer for multiple sclerosis sufferer Mr Carter couldn't get into the detached house.
She called his adult son who managed to gain access and made the terrible discovery.
Keith Jones will appear before a judge at Teesside Crown Court next Thursday, January 13.
