Hartlepool: Supporters and staff of Hartlepool United Football Club will hand over £40,000 before the kick-off of its FA Cup clash with Boston United today.
The club's owners, Increased Oil Recovery Ltd, and shirt sponsors Dove Energy noted that Premiership clubs had pledged £50,000 each - and decided to ensure the club would aim at a similar target, despite its smaller bank balance. A spokesman said: "Everyone has helped, from the players who have pledged ten per cent of their weekly wage, to the public, who have donated via collections and through ground entrance money at the MK Dons match."
Spennymoor: The Clay Cafe, in High Street, Spennymoor, are donating 20 per cent of today's takings to the appeal. Partners Faith Robinson and Jill Myers have organised a fun day with ceramics and face painting, live music, a pottery sale and a pinata or donkey filled with sweets. Customers will also be entered in a free draw.
whitby: A nine-hour concert will be held in Whitby, North Yorkshire, tomorrow. Local artists, including Fame Academy star Alastair Griffin, will take to the stage at Whitby Pavilion, from 2pm. Tickets are priced £10.
Harrogate: DriveStyle Convertibles, of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, is donating £20 for every test drive undertaken. The dealership is also inviting people to drop off non-perishable items such as blankets and clothes at its premises on Hornbeam Park.
SCARBOROUGH: Care services provider Carewatch, which operates from Scarborough, has invited employees to donate an hour or more of pay earned over the Christmas period. The company will match the donations pound for pound.
CROFT: A coffee morning is being held in the village hall in Croft-on-Tees, near Darlington, next Saturday, from 10am to noon. There will be a cake stall and a tabletop sale. Admission is 50p. Any offers of help, please call (01325) 721042.
Richmond: Oxfam, in Richmond, North Yorkshire, has so far collected about £10,500. Staff say the shop has also received a large amount of clothing.
Catterick: A coffee morning will be held in Booth Hall, Catterick Village, North Yorkshire, today, from 10am until noon.
