A TEENAGER who was released from custody last month yesterday admitted breaking into a house and stealing valuables worth £440 in September last year.
The 17-year-old, from Darlington, appeared before the town's youth court faced with a joint charge of entering an address in Arkle Crescent, Darlington, as a trespasser and stealing an X-box console, games, DVDs and jewellery.
The second defendant involved in the case has previously entered a not guilty plea.
Magistrates heard that the teenager was given a detention and training order in October for separate offences and was released last month.
Ciaran Grogan, prosecuting, said the teenager was a persistent young offender.
Rob Hutchinson, in mitigation, said his client had turned to education while in custody and obtained qualifications in maths and IT.
The case was adjourned until January 21 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
