PLANS to construct a new office building on a an industrial es-tate look likely to be given approval.

The new office building for JWs Investments on Ellerbeck Court Industrial Estate, in Stokesley, has been recommended for approval by Hambleton District Council.

It is anticipated that the office building would create 22 full-time jobs and ten part-time.

The two-storey building would cover a 0.37 hectare site in the south-western corner of the estate.

Great Broughton Parish Council has not objected to the office's design.

However, it said more parking spaces would be needed as it felt 18 spaces were not sufficient for 32 members of staff.

In recommending approval for the plan, planning officer Helen Laws said: "This phase of the industrial park requires a high standard of design to create an attractive environment and to enhance the setting of Stokesley.

"The design of the buildings is considered to be innovative, with the use of a gable to the front elevation and different materials on the walls.

"It is not considered that the development will be as prominent as other sites on Ellerbeck Court.

"It is suggested that the design reflects the requirements of the development brief and is acceptable."

The district council's development control committee will discuss the application at 10.30am in the council chamber at the Civic Centre, Northallerton, on Thursday.
