A HAIR and beauty salon and pub are joining forces to raise money to build a sensory room for a baby with cerebral palsy.
Ryan Gibson will need the sensory room at his home in Hope Street, Crook, to help him develop over the years.
The venture will cost about £5,000 and in order to help parents Donna Nicholson and Neil Gibson raise the cash, staff at Wild Styles, in Crook, have volunteered their time free of charge for a charity beauty evening at The Green, in Billy Row.
All therapies will be available for a small charge of £5 at the event on February 7 and all proceeds will go toward the sensory room. Any extra cash will be donated to help other children in the area like Ryan.
His mother Donna, 19, said: "We think that it is brilliant that everybody is doing this for Ryan. Bar Mondos in Bishop held a charity night for us and Crook Football Club also gave us £200. The rest of the money is coming in from people who are just giving us money here and there."
Ian Bell, who is licensee at The Green along with partner Michelle Blythe, will also hold a sponsored darts session at the pub on Friday, from noon until midnight. To challenge him at any time during the event, call at the pub.
