A DRIVER involved in a head-on collision with a bus was rescued from his car and taken to hospital on Saturday.
The accident took place in Skelton Road, near Brotton, east Cleveland, and involved an Arriva bus and a Mitsubishi space wagon.
The male driver of the car was freed from the wreckage, near Millholme Farm, at about 1pm.
Police said the single-decker bus, which was driven by a 45-year-old man from Skelton, was travelling north around a bend towards Brotton village.
The car driver was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, with two fractures to a leg and was detained. No one else was injured.
