Mowden Park team manager Jim Dyson tore into the side after witnessing a performance he described as "pathetic".

The Darlington side went down 5-0 to Dudley Kingswinford in Division Three (North), the try coming in the sixth minute of injury time.

The home side had possession at the time but it was turned over and missed tackles saw their lowly rivals, second from bottom in the league, go over in the corner for the score.

"I have never seen such a poor game in my life," said Dyson, who said he had wished the fixture had fallen victim to the weather. "They were two bloody poor sides.

"I have never, ever seen such a pathetic performance from a Mowden Park side."

Dyson said he had anticipated a comfortable victory beforehand.

"We had expected to win by umpteen, get a bonus point and it be a five pointer," he said.

"It turned out we got one point for staying one score inside of theirs. We were bloody pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

"The backs were pathetic, the forwards got them enough ball to win the game. It was as simple as that."

Asked how Mowden would turn things around for their next encounter, a derby clash with Darlington, Dyson said: "You tell me."

"We are going to try and knuckle down in two really stiff training sessions before we meet Darlington," he added.

However, Dyson is unable to look too far ahead just yet, Saturday's defeat still taking its time to work its way out of his system.

"I just don't know where the hell we are going from here, to be honest," he said. "I have never ever been so bloody depressed in my life."

Blaydon's Division Three encounter at Kendal was called off at 9am as the ground was declared unfit. The game has been rearranged for April 16.

Darlington's game at Fylde also fell victim to the weather as did Tynedale's at home to Macclesfield and West Hartlepool's trip to Morpeth.

In Powergen North Two East, Stockton enjoyed a 17-0 victory over Redcar thanks to tries from Mark Skirving, Keith Etherington and Richie Brown. Jeremy Good had one conversion.

"We were held up twice over their line in the first half," said Stockton spokesman Eric Smalley. "And we held them up twice in the last ten minutes of the second half when they threw everything at us."

A look at recent history beforehand would have suggested such a triumph.

"They beat us quite comfortably at Station Road and we turned the tables on them," Smalley added.

"We worked it out that over the last three seasons they have won at our place and we have won at their place - it's just one of those quirks."

Result: Darlington Mowden Park 0 Dudley Kingswinford 5.
