AN appeal has been made for the driver of a Ford Mondeo car to come forward following an accident in Newton Aycliffe on New Year's Day.
Newton Aycliffe police have issued the appeal after a man in his 20s complained that a car had run over his foot when he was crossing the road at the junction near St Cuthbert's Way and Sheraton Road at about 6.15pm.
It is believed the dark car had been travelling down St Cuthbert's Way and turned left into Sheraton Road causing the man and a friend to step back but one of the wheels went over his foot.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment. He was later discharged with minor injuries to his foot.
PC Andy MacLintock from Newton Aycliffe police said: "It is possible that the driver of the car is not aware that he or she has run over the foot of the pedestrian.
"We would like the driver to come forward. It was also quite busy in that area at the time and there were a number of people coming out of The Big Club. We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything.''
Witnesses are asked to call 0845 6060365.
