AN INTRUDER who pushed a caretaker to the ground during an incident at a school in being sought by police.

The man, who is thought to be in his early 20s, was discovered inside Parkview Community School, in Chester-le-Street, at about 6pm on Monday, November 29.

He was walking around the school and was asked to leave by the caretaker but, a short while later, he was found in another part of the building.

Again he was asked to leave, but reacted by grabbing the caretaker by the neck and pushing him to the ground, before running from the building.

The intruder was 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in, slim, with short, dark hair, and a spotty complexion.

He was wearing a light grey tracksuit top, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
