A SPECIALIST lighting company has won a £500,000 contract.
Victor Products, based on the New York Industrial Park, North Tyneside, has been awarded the contract by Hyundai Heavy Industries, the Korean Engineering and Construction contractor.
Mark Lester, sales and marketing director, said: "This is one of the most significant lighting orders we have received for several years.
"It reflects five years of excellent co-operation between Victor and Hyundai, in a highly competitive international market."
The plant employs 110 people in the region, making lighting products for hazardous area applications, such as onshore and offshore oil, gas and petrochemical facilities.
The contract is for lighting at the Bonny Terminal Integration Project, owned by the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria.
It is part of work being carried out on Bonny Island to allow it to receive oil produced from the offshore Bonga development.
