Chester-le-Street: In December members held their Christmas party and carol service.
Members enjoyed a buffet supper. There was a Christmas performance by Joyce Shaw assisted by Patricia Stobbs on the piano with various musical numbers and recitations. This made for an entertaining evening.
The carol service was well attended. The Reverend Ann Anderson led a service of carols and readings at the church of St Mary and St Cuthbert's, in Chester-le-Street. A play consisting of a series of interviews linked the carols and readings together.
Members then enjoyed mince pies and ginger wine.
A quiz was held, which caused some merriment. Members then enjoyed seasonal recitations by Margaret Gair. Diane Gibb had written a poem reminding everyone of all the lovely outings the guild had enjoyed during the year. It was a good time to take a trip down memory lane.
Guild members were happy that friends from the Hermitage Guild could join in the carol service and celebrate with them. A Happy New Year is wished to everyone.
