A CAMPAIGN to raise awareness about the misuse of antibiotics using a new cartoon character has been launched.
Detective Moxy Malone, created by Viz illustrator Steve Donald, is "tracking down the truth" about when antibiotics do and don't work.
The campaign will run on radio and television, posters will appear on bus shelters and leaflets distributed.
In County Durham, children in GP surgery waiting areas can join the campaign by colouring in the Moxy Malone cartoon character.
For further information about how antibiotics should be used and their side effects, pick up a copy of the campaign leaflet from GP surgeries or local pharmacy.
Derwentside, Durham and Chester-le-Street, Durham Dales, Easington, and Sedgefield Primary Care Trusts have joined trusts in Tees Valley in the campaign.
