A STORM-DAMAGED university building is back in business following repairs after the gales.
Part of the roof of the university's learning resource centre was ripped off by 80mph winds at the weekend.
The building in central Middlesbrough houses the library and its computer work stations were out of action for three days.
Estates personnel worked with university health and safety experts and contractors to secure the building and make the main library facilities water-tight.
Repairs to the top floor, which houses the vice-chancellor's office, will take longer to repair and the vice-chancellor's executive has relocated to the centre for enterprise on the university campus.
A seven-day extension for all in-course assessments, due to be submitted before the end of this month, has been agreed with the Students' Union.
Mr Ian Butchart, director of library and information services, said: "We are fortunate that the damage was restricted to the top floor and that none of the books or computers were damaged.
"I am very pleased that we have been able to reopen so quickly."
However, the Saltersgill sports ground will be out of action until further notice.
