A PROJECT helping people with long term medical conditions to offer advice to fellow sufferers is being extended to Bishop Auckland.
The Durham Dales Primary Care Trust's Expert Patient Programme is hosting a course at the Proudfoot Centre, in Woodhouse Close.
The trust has run five similar schemes across Wear Valley and Teesdale. Its programme is part of a national initiative developed by the Department of Health in 2003.
The courses are designed to run alongside medical treatments and can offer benefits such as reduced symptoms, less pain, greater self-confidence and a better quality of life.
Courses are free and run for six consecutive weeks covering various topics, such as finding information, making action plans, pain management, communicating with health professionals and coping with depression.
For information and a registration form, contact Katharine Humby on (01388) 458835 or pick up a form from the Auckland Youth and Community Centre, Walker Drive.
