PUPILS at a County Durham school have been exploring aspects of their science curriculum through a pantomime.
The science department at Easington Community School is hosting the County Durham Schools Science Pantomime, Hansel and Petal.
Year six pupils from the school's feeder primary schools were invited to performances yesterday and today.
The pantomime is an alternative version of the more traditional Hansel and Gretel.
The production features budding botanist Petal and her troublesome brother Hansel, and the storyline reviews many aspects of the key stage two science curriculum which pupils have been studying.
Subjects covered include habitats, food chains, plant reproduction, forces and light and sound.
The performance lasts over an hour, with each child receiving a programme which includes quizzes to do back at home or at school which continue the science theme.
