The following applications will be considered by Darlington Borough Council's planning committee next Wednesday:

* Members are expected to approve plans to build seven bungalows on the site of the former St Augustine's Church, in Ribble Drive. The application has been submitted by Endeavour Housing Association.

* An application by Robinsons Chartered Surveyors to change the use of an old office building on Duke Street, Darlington, to a shop and install a new shop front is likely to be approved. Darlington Civic Trust has opposed the application on the grounds that the proposed shop front undermines the traditional character of the street.

* Councillors are expected to agree to plans to install 1.83-metre high gates at the entrance of a house on the corner of Carmel Road North and Clareville Street. Wendy Gibson's application has received a letter of objection from a neighbour.

* Members are expected to approve an application to fell six trees subject to a tree preservation order in the Coniscliffe Mews area of Darlington. The application, from John Parkinson, has received four letters of objection from neighbours.
