MORE cash is to be pumped into schemes encouraging cycling in North Yorkshire.
Hambleton District Council is being asked to put cash into two schemes. It has already agreed on the route of the Thirsk-Sowerby cycleway, for which it is providing £4,000 and the county council £68,000.
Despite the split in funding it is Hambleton which is leading the project, and as design works have progressed, estimates show the budget needs to be upped by £21,000.
Now the district council, which will have responsibility for maintaining and lighting the cycleway, is being recommended to allocate a further £21,000.
Additionally it is being asked to put £6,000 into the recreational route running from Whitby to Barnard Castle.
The route mainly follows minor roads and requires white lines and signs as well as promotions.
