THE series of free festive entertainment at Hartlepool's Central Library before Christmas has raised money for charity.
A series of carol concerts were held at the library, featuring choirs from local schools Brierton, Golden Flatts, St Cuthbert's, Brougham, St Aidan's, St Joseph's, Ward Jackson, Manor, Clavering, St Hild's, St Bega's and Stranton. There were also concerts by keyboard player Peter Craddy and performances by Harrison Performing Arts.
Although the events were free, donations to Hartlepool and District Hospice were invited, and the total amount raised was £279.94.
Christine Carter, the library assistant who organised the events, said: "We would like to say a big 'thank you' to all the performers who made the entertainment so special, and to all the members of the public who came along and left a donation for the hospice. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and it added so much to the Christmas spirit."
