SMOKING is to be banned in a Hartlepool restaurant.
Farrars has, however, provided a heated area outside the restaurant for people who want to smoke.
Mark Farrar, head chef and restaurant owner, said: "Many of our customers, even those who do smoke, have asked if we would think about banning it in the restaurant.
"As we promote a family-friendly atmosphere, particularly during the day, we felt it only right we ask people to stub it out once and for all.
"I think that it is important to protect the health of our staff and not subject them to passive smoking while working in our restaurant."
