A SINGER is urging fans across the North-East to vote for her so she can go through to the next stage of TV talent show Stars In Their Eyes.

Laura Tallentire, 23, of Annfield Plain, County Durham, was runner-up in Saturday's show, appearing as Sharleen Spiteri, singer in the band Texas.

She was beaten on the night by a Celine Dion soundalike, but can still make it through to the final if she gets enough telephone votes.

Laura said: "It would be really great if I get to go to the final, but I am happy with the whole experience so far and everything I have got out of it."

She watched Saturday's show with friends at Annfield Plain Cricket Club, where they held a party in her honour. The evening raised £173 for victims of the tsunami disaster in south-east Asia.

Supporters can vote for Laura until midnight tonight by ringing 0901-121 0104.
