THE rebuilt and refurbished Salvation Army building in Stockton was reopened on Saturday.
Chief secretary of the Salvation Army for the UK, Lieutenant Colonel Vic Poke, performed the ceremony at the building in Palmerston Street and led an evening service.
The Mayor of Stockton, Jennie Beaumont, and Stockton south MP Dari Taylor also attended.
The £600,000 overhaul included the citadel being refurbished, and a two-storey community centre was built on the site of the car park and former meeting room.
Bernard Cook, of Stockton Salvation Army, said: "We had a great time. There was plenty of people both inside and outside the citadel. Our longest-serving member and the youngest took part in the unveiling of the plaque."
People can look around the building tomorrow and on Wednesday and Thursday, from 10am to 3pm.
Mr Cook said: "We have already had a number of bookings for the community centre, and it seems like it is going to be a success."
