A FREE training course is available to people who have lived with someone experiencing a problem with alcohol or drugs.
Making Sense Of It - Drugs, Alcohol and Health is co-ordinated by Drugs North-East Open College Network and the County Durham Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT).
Sarah Little, DAAT coordinator, said: "The course is designed for people who have an interest in drug and alcohol misuse and the impact it has upon health.
"It will be held over a ten- week period, covering topics such as the attitudes of young people towards drugs and alcohol, a look at the various drugs and the effects, a look at drugs and the law and a look at how drugs and alcohol impact on our health.
"Priority will be given to anyone who is, or has lived with, someone who has had difficulties with drugs or alcohol."
The course will have an emphasis on enjoyment while learning.
No previous experience or qualifications are necessary and there may be help towards travel and child care expenses. A certificate will be presented at the end of the course from the North-East Open College Network.
Venues and dates are to be confirmed. Anyone interested can call Jill Jefferson on 0191- 333 3237.
