A TEENAGE girl liked her Saturday job so much she took over the company.
Jennifer Willis, 17, has taken over the popular Sandwich Venue, in the Spencer Market Hall, in the Castlegate Centre, Stockton.
Jennifer, who lives with her parents in nearby Norton, started a Saturday job at the shop while in her final year at St Michael's RC School, in Billingham. She went full-time after she left school, but her job was in doubt after the previous tenants had to give up the shop for family reasons.
However, she has been given a licence to run the premises, and has become one of the youngest traders in the country.
She said: "When I was employed here, I spent my time learning the ropes from the previous owners, and decided to take it on. I have the backing of my mum and dad, and my sister, Gemma, is coming in to help me serve customers.
"It is very exciting and I am looking forward to the challenge."
Castlegate Shopping Centre manager John Clift said Jennifer has been given a licence rather than a full tenancy agreement, which will prevent her from being tied down if she wishes to move on.
He said: "We are always pleased to give the opportunity to anyone wanting to get into business for themselves.
"Jennifer has now got her foot on the first rung of the business ladder, and we all wish her well.
"It is a nice, little story and everyone is hoping it works out."
