STAFF and pupils at a school in Darlington are celebrating success in a recent inspection.
Abbey Infant School, in the west end of the town, was identified as a good school with some very good features after an inspection by Ofsted.
Teaching staff at the school were congratulated on their good relationship with pupils and inspectors said standards were well above average in reading, writing, mathematics and science by the time pupils leave.
The overall leadership and management at the school was also reported to be very good by the inspectors.
Headteacher Elaine McCue was also singled out for praise by inspectors for her good leadership and clear vision for development and commitment to improvements for the school.
She said: "We are delighted with the report and I am very proud of the school's achievements. We have a dedicated team of staff here who work hard to make this school a friendly and welcoming learning environment for all our pupils."
