NEWCASTLE-based plc the Chieftain Group has appointed CHRIS FLEETWOOD as a non-executive director.
The 53-year-old currently holds a number of executive and non-executive positions in North-East companies.
Between 1988 and 2000, Mr Fleetwood was Chief Executive of North-East based Whessoe Plc, a fully-listed company he transformed from a UK heavy engineering business into a multi-national group specialising in electronics, software instrumentation and control systems.
At the time of Whessoe's takeover by Siebe in 1997, the company had annual turnover of £88.6m and a market capitalisation of £46m.
Chieftain believes that the company will benefit significantly from Mr Fleetwood's experience during its present phase of development.
