FIVE arts groups will be performing at a concert to help victims of the tsunami in South-East Asia.

Richmondshire Orchestra and Richmond school's orchestra, amateur dramatic society, choral society and operatic society will each perform a 20-minute slot during the concert at Richmond School's Middle Hall on Saturday, January 29.

The concert will end with a version of the Last Night of the Proms.

The event, which will also benefit local charities, is being co-ordinated by director of performing arts Richard Jones.

He said: "This event was planned over 18 months ago and the societies are looking forward to taking part in their own right and to performing together.

"We estimate that each group probably has a core audience who perhaps do not go to other societies' events and this will be a marvellous opportunity to showcase what we all do."

Tickets cost £5 for adults, free for accompanied children. Tickets are available from the societies, on the door or from Richmond School on (01748) 828109.
