DETAILED planning consent has been granted to create a £36m college campus in the North-East.
The campus, part of Gateshead College's relocation, will be at the Baltic Business Quarter.
The building, designed by Red Box Design Company, will provide 193,000sq ft of space, and is due for completion by May 2007.
College principal David Cheetham said: "We are delighted to have received this consent so we can press ahead with our vision to create a world-class building, which will enable us to deliver the cutting edge in learning."
The move means Gateshead College can create a centre for lifelong learning.
