COUNCILLORS have granted permission for six trees to be felled in a Darlington cul-de-sac .
John Parkinson, of Coniscliffe Mews, applied to fell five pine and one sycamore, which are subject to a tree preservation order, saying that they had posed a danger.
The trees are in the garden of a detached home at the head of the cul-de-sac, off Coniscliffe Road.
Planning officer Adrian Miller said he had inspected the site and found that one of the trees had blown down in the recent gales.
"Our tree expert said that the trees were in average form and condition," he said.
"Therefore, the trees will require replacement in the shorter or medium term."
Planning committee members approved the felling at a meeting this week.
