DESPITE gloomy trading figures elsewhere over the Christmas period, the North-East's newest retail park enjoyed a busy festive season.
Management at Dalton Park, near Seaham, County Durham, said many of its retail outlets reported a strong performance both in the run-up and over the Christmas and New Year periods.
Dalton Park director David Gosling said the outlets had seen a 16 per cent increase in trading in November and December.
Marketing manager Heather Scott attributed the success to unique brand offers and a range of community events held at the centre.
"As a new development, we would expect sales and visitor levels to grow as more and more people in the North-East discover what we have to offer - great brands at fantastic prices."
And she added: "Our research tells us our customers like what they see and frequently return for more.
"We have a strong marketing programme, which includes events such as French markets, farmers' markets, firework displays and bank holiday fun in the centre - so there's something fantastic for all the family to enjoy.''
