A NURSERY school's children were not deterred by bad weather when it came to raising money for the tsunami victims of Asia.

The Nursery in Teasdale Street, Consett, had planned to hold a sponsored walk yesterday, but were forced to cancel because of the high winds.

But staff decided to press ahead with a fundraising event, by holding a sponsored jump on a bouncy castle instead.

The Nursery manager Anne McGuire said: "The children really enjoyed it. Some of the older ones liked it more than they would have done a walk."

More than 40 children aged from three months to four years took part. They have raised £200 so far, but are expecting the final figure to be much higher.
