THE doors of a sixth form college are being thrown open so the public can see its new facilities.
At the beginning of the academic year, a building extension was completed at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington, containing science labs, a sports hall, purpose-built classrooms, an open plan floor for art and design and a glazed atrium study area with computers.
The student common room and the wing adjacent to Abbey Road have also been refurbished.
Principal David Heaton said: "The project has been transformational, and has provided the college with facilities that reflect its status as one of the country's leading sixth form colleges.
"We are aware that during the building period there was some disruption to our neighbours, particularly with respect to parking. We would like to thank them for their patience and understanding, and will be delighted to especially welcome them to the college."
Guided tours are being arranged on Monday, January 31, and Monday, February 7, at 5.30pm, 6.00pm and 6.30pm.
Anyone interested is asked to book a place by calling (01325) 461315.
