A GROUP of fathers joined their children at the weekend to stage a colourful celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Chester-le-Street's Dads Aloud, which highlights the importance of fathers as role models and offers them the chance to spend more time with their youngsters, staged the event at the town's Hermitage School.
The celebration, attended by 20 fathers, several mothers and up to 45 children, included demonstrations of martial arts, Chinese cooking, dancing and poetry.
The highlight of the day involved the construction of a 40ft dragon under the guidance of Yip Lee.
