Police are appealing for help after a scooter rider telephoned his wife to say he had an accident, but did not know where he was, or what had occurred.
After the phone call, the rider's wife traced his journey from work and found her husband.
However, Cleveland Police do not know whether another vehicle was involved, or if the man simply fell off his scooter in Middlesbrough Road, near Skipper's Lane, South Bank.
Witnesses to the accident, which happened at about 6.10pm on Friday, should ring Cleveland Police on (01642) 301558.
