FORMER hospital helper David Dunn is backing a nationwide campaign to recruit more volunteers into the health sector.
Mr Dunn, 20, from Sunderland, was the first person in Britain to come through a Government-backed volunteer challenge scheme.
After nine months helping out at City Hospital, Sunderland, he has become a full-time employee in the accident and emergency department.
He said: "The training has really helped me."
